Kevin McCarthy studied translation at the University of Limerick in Ireland and has been living in Cluj-Napoca, Romania since 2004, where he completed an MA in conference interpreting. He teaches classes on translation at Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, and in 2007 he was awarded a scholarship by the Romanian Cultural Institute for training young literary translators. He is extremely active as a freelance translator, and, since March 2008, also works as an interpreter for the institutions of the European Union.
