Born on September 8 1926, Făcăieni, Ialomiţa County, in the southern Romanian plain.
1948-52: attended the Faculty of Letters in Bucharest
1960: published Drum în cîmpie / The Road through the Plain, a collection of essays about describing the southern Romanian plain
1964: Colocvii. Artistul şi epoca, a volume of interviews
1965: Iarna bărbaţilor / Men in Winter (literally, Winter of the Men), Banulescu’s fiction debut.
1966: University of Urbino, Italy
1968: Cîntece de cîmpie / Songs of the Plains, poems inspired by folklore.
1971: Iarna bărbaţilor / Men in Winter, revised edition
1971-1972: International Writing Program, University of Iowa, Iowa City, U.S.A.
1977: Cartea Milionarului / The Book of the Millionaire, fiction.
1979: Iarna bărbaţilor / Men in Winter, definitive edition.
1983: Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, West Berlin
